China's Ministry of Education on March 20 published its annual notice on college enrollment for 2024, pledging to advance the reform of entrance exam and admission policies. The ministry said efforts should be made to ensure that the exam focuses on testing not only the knowledge acquired by candidates but also their competence and academic caliber.

《关于做好2024年普通高校招生工作的通知》要求，吉林、黑龙江、安徽、江西、广西、贵州、甘肃等第四批高考综合改革省份要全力做好新高考落地的各项工作，精心制定命题、考试和录取工作方案。
针对艺术体育类招考改革落地工作，根据通知，各地要进一步加强艺术类专业省级统考能力建设，完善省级统考科目和内容，实现考试科类全覆盖；精心做好考试组织和招生录取各环节工作，确保有效衔接。高水平运动队招生高校要进一步完善招生录取办法，严格运动员技术等级证书审核查验。
通知还要求，严厉打击考试舞弊，进一步完善防范高科技作弊的工作措施，开展手机作弊专项治理，结合本地实际，制定要求考生不得将手机带入考点或在考点入口集中保管手机的实施办法。严肃招生宣传和咨询工作纪律，不得以新生高额奖学金、违规承诺录取（含承诺录取专业、本硕博连读或贯通等）、入校后重新选择专业等方式争抢生源，不得以优质生源登记表、志愿填报意向书等形式吸引、误导学生。
